For the last three years, I have been involved with Community Servings, a Boston-based organization that provides free, nutritious, home-delivered meals to individuals and families battling HIV/AIDS, cancer, Lupus, MS and other acute, life-threatening illnesses.ﾠ Each and every day, meals are served to 725 clients in 16 cities and towns across 200 square-miles in Eastern Massachusetts.ﾠ Their goal is to help clients maintain their health and dignity, preserve the integrity of their families, provide culturally appropriate nourishment and send the message that someone cares - and, believe me, they succeed at all of these things!
Pie in the Sky is Community Servings' annual fundraiser that brings together more than 150 of Boston's best chefs, restaurants, caterers, and hotels to donate their time, talent and resources to provide Thanksgiving desserts to pie buyers.ﾠ
As you think about your upcoming holiday celebration, think of an apple, pecan, pumpkin or sweet potato pie that you can buy from Community Servings that will provide a week of hearty and nourishing home-delivered meals to a neighbor struggling with a life-threatening illness.ﾠ Aside from you getting a delicious pie you'll be part of the team who delivers 725 meals a day people too sick to shop or cook for themselves or their families while you send them a message that you care.
Please take a moment to order your Thanksgiving pie.ﾠ You can pick it up the day before Thanksgiving at one of 40 convenient locations throughout Greater Boston.ﾠ Just search for the location nearest you!ﾠ
I'm also happy to pick up your pie for you and deliver it to you.ﾠ If you want me to do that, please choose "Pick-Up Site 122 TAG/TSI" and I will get in touch with you to arrange a drop-off time.
Clearly these are shaky economic times but your support of $25 will go a long way to help your neighbors who, along with Community Servings and the critically ill they serve, needs your support more than ever.
Thank you so much for your support - and please remember to pick my name when ordering!
