Pie in the Sky 2011 - Why I Sell Pies...
Here at Community Servings we feel incredibly privledged to have such fantastic and dedicated volunteers - during Pie in the Sky and year round. In this forum, hear why our pie sellers decided to sign up and support our mission. A very special thank you to all of our sellers and volunteers - it's because of your hard work that we are able to feed thousands of our critically ill neighbors every year.

Because my mother died of cancer at the age of 35...I was 10 and we were living on welfare in Government housing. I wish that there had been an awesome organization like Community Servings around in the early 80's. I'm very glad that Community Servings is there to help folks who are in that same situation...and I'm happy that I have the ability to help too.

It's a win-win situation! Who doesn't want to enjoy a delicious, homemade pie after a filling Thanksgiving meal? And it's all for a good cause.

It just happens - our neighbors become very sick. They can't care for themselves, let alone their kids. I sell pies because community servings helps take away one of the many worries these families have - a decent meal at home for the whole family.

Community Servings is an amazing group that helps provide meals to critically ill people throughout the year. Selling delicious pies for Thanksgiving is a small way to express gratitude for their work, and to give more meaning to this holiday meal.

This is one of the greatest organizations I have come across! The dollar amount of each donation that actually goes to feeding those in need is outstanding. It is heartwarming to know that the pleasure of eating a good pie will help to go toward multiple meals for those are are suffering illness in their family.

This massive complex bake sale makes me cry with delight and amazement. How better to connect with those who love to bake, those who love to eat, those who love to share food with loved ones, those who need food and love and connection all around the greater Boston area!

Thanksgiving is a time of giving and letting others know how much you care. Pie in the Sky emulates this.

I've been involved with Community Servings for some time, starting off helping in the pie packing division one night with a couple of friends from work about 5 years ago. I got a chance to learn about the amazing organization that CS is and all the help they provide to our communities. The people involved are some of the most kind, caring and committed individuals I've interacted with. I haven't been able to help during the pie packing and delivery since but each year I sign up to sell pies...no matter how busy life gets or how little time people have to help, at the very least you can set up some flyers at work/school and email everyone you've ever met to spread the message and hopefully, sell a couple pies. :)

Hillary famously said that, it takes a village&I believe that its important to make that village the best that we can! While there are many great options to support charities in the USA, my primary goal is to keep it local. I love Community Servings because it allows me to support a local non-profit, that in turn provides an invaluable service to my neighbors in need. To know that not only the person who is suffering from illness will be provided a nourishing meal, but the children as well makes me stand up for this awesome cause.
